A BIT ABOUT ME

Hey you!

My naam is Daantje and I am a twenty-one-year young woman from the Netherlands. I am someone with an interest in the concept of development work, as well as a passion for heritage management. I hold a fascination for encounters with to-me-foreign cultures and more specifically African histories, perceptions, and identities.

My latest research focused on the colonial and postcolonial interpretations of the West-African archaeological record, located in modern-day Nigeria. Not only did that research open up a controversial world of ownership, museums and repatriation; it also showed me that current African identities are never standalone from their past. On this platform, I hope to further explore how African people shape identities in an ever-changing world, while delving into topics like colonialism, migration, tourism, and anything else that meets this extraordinary continent.
