I decided relatively early on that, for this course, I wanted to look into the relationship between education and the African anthropocene. Obviously, the first thing I thought of was formal education. However, this was quite difficult to execute. I wanted to look at different nature-related curricula in African primary and secondary school, but there were hardly any sources about this to be found. And thus I turned to educational projects, of which there are many in the continent. There is a wide variety, when it comes to target group (children, students, adults), organisers (governments, charities, NGOs, locals), budget, scale, etcetera. Eventually I selected three to take a closer look at and I have written a review about all three of them. Of course I focused on education about the environment, although one of them does not have it as its focal point. There is much more to be said about many more educational projects, and no doubt I will have missed a few great ones. Notably it was difficult to find projects that teach to adults.
I hope my reviews contribute to your understanding of education in Africa.
