In this short conversation I discuss identity and being part of the diaspora with a friend. Kyra studies at the University of Leiden but has moved around a lot – having lived in Kenya, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and now here in the Netherlands. Kyra is very much part of a cohort of young people, a generation of people who are mixed-race European and African and find themselves with love and loyalty between both continents sparking questions of identity in adolescence and early adulthood; never feeling truly at ease in either the fully European space nor the fully African space. Kyra even set up her own society at University, a space for mixed-race people to share their experiences. What I think this short conversation shows is a universality of feeling that this cohort feels – it could easily be myself saying similar things that Kyra expresses here.
Cheese Fondue or Nyama Choma?

Interesting topic. it is nice how you provoke this discussion. The interviewee seems to become interested in the topic herself during the interview. it is a strong short podcast.
