Within the production process, the collection of proper audio (sound) is the most underestimated, yet most crucial part of the process. If you record a nice interview and the images are not strong, you can always go for surrounding or illustrative visuals, or you can opt to produce a podcast or radio program. If instead the audio track is bad, the production can never be great unless it's done again. So, remember;

• Try to understand how audio works and how it is recorded
• Use the best equipment you can get and record the audio at the highest quality available
• Always use an over-ear headphone to listen through the recording equipment
• Last but not least: check the audio before ending the production
